Learning to reconnect with your body.

Welcome to Core Somatics - an integrative, somatic approach to women’s nervous system health.

If feeling exhausted and wired has become your new normal — swinging between being wound-up or completely flat, with a mind and body that stay “on” even when you’re tired — you’re not alone.

Many women have experienced extended periods of stress throughout their life and as a way of coping, the nervous system adapts and begins to operate from a survival-based state.

You might notice it as:

  • persistent tension or unexplained pain in the body

  • feeling highly reactive and on edge

  • heightened emotions

  • chronic fatigue or brain fog

  • difficulty resting, sleeping or slowing down

  • feeling disconnected or shut down

These experiences do not suggest there is anything wrong with “you” – they are common signs of a nervous system that has adapted to ongoing load and has learned to “function in dysfunction”.

You can learn more about working together below, or start with a Discovery Session to explore whether this work feels like the right fit for you.

Embodied education.

Many people already have a sense of what might help them — but haven’t yet learned how to translate that sense into everyday, lived experience.

At Core Somatics, the focus is on supporting you to come back into the driver’s seat — developing practical tools and body-based strategies that you can integrate into real-world contexts, not just during a session.

This unfolds through embodied education — learning how your system works, and then translating that knowledge into felt, lived experience that supports a return to your innate state of balance.

  • A simple way to understand this work

When the body is exposed to ongoing stress, the nervous system adapts to protect you.

These responses are intelligent and necessary — but when stress becomes chronic, those same patterns can begin to limit energy, ease and capacity.

Core Somatics works with the body’s natural ability to restore and re-learn regulation.

Rather than forcing release or overriding symptoms, this approach gently supports the nervous system in finding more safety, steadiness and resourcing — allowing patterns shaped by long-term stress to soften and reorganise over time.

As nervous-system capacity increases, the body no longer has to work as hard to cope. Energy becomes more available, reactivity decreases, and a greater sense of balance and ease can return.

  • Core Somatics IS:

    • gentle and non-invasive

    • education-based and embodied

    • paced for women living with stress and fatigue

    • supportive of long-term change, not quick fixes

    Core Somatics IS NOT:

    • body manipulation or treatment

    • a one-size-fits-all method

    • about pushing through discomfort

    • focused on symptom suppression without addressing underlying capacity

This work honours your body’s intelligence and timing.

  • What working together looks like

Core Somatics is offered through structured programs designed to support nervous-system regulation over time.

The work is personalised and collaborative, with your body’s responses guiding the pace. Your history, lived experience and current capacity form the foundation of the process, with guidance and continuity to support change that your body can actually integrate.

Programs are designed to meet women where they are — supporting gradual restoration of balance, energy and resilience, rather than pushing for outcomes before the system is ready.

Not sure where to start?

A 90 min Discovery Session offers space to talk through what you’re experiencing, ask questions, explore what Core Somatics is and if its the right fit for you.

Our Services

Meet the Founder

Emma Stephens brings over two decades of experience working with the body, alongside a deep understanding of how stress, life transitions and long-term load shape women’s nervous systems.

Her work is informed not only by professional training, but by lived experience — including the realities of chronic stress, motherhood, owning and operating businesses, and navigating the physical and emotional changes that come with different life stages and events.

Em’s approach is grounded, compassionate and practical. She works in a way that supports women to slow down, listen to their bodies, and rebuild capacity in a way that is sustainable.

Core Somatics is an extension of this philosophy — supporting a return to relationship with your body and its innate wisdom.
